If you’re visiting with us, this description of our Communion service will be helpful to you. It is open to all believers, as well as those seeking a closer walk with Christ, and is held quarterly. Sometimes we may experience Communion as part of a Friday evening service. Other times, it'll be part of our main worship service on Saturday mornings.

Our practice of Communion involves Four Key Components:

Preparation — we can prepare for the Supper by self-examination, repentance, and confession. This can be done individually, with our families, or in small groups.

Ordinance of Humility (Foot washing) — Jesus ordained the service of foot washing to signify renewed cleansing, to express a willingness to serve one another in Christ-like humility, and to unite our hearts in love. We do it prior to participating in the Lord’s Supper.

The Lord’s Supper — our partaking of the unleavened bread and unfermented grape juice represents a participation in the emblems of the body and blood of Jesus as an expression of faith in Him, our Lord and Saviour. In this experience of communion Christ is present to meet and strengthen His people. As we partake, we joyfully proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes again.

Rejoicing — Matthew 26:30 tells us after the fourth cup, “And when they had sung a hymn, they went out…” Likewise, we leave rejoicing for all He has done! Psalm 118:1 says, “I will praise You, For You have answered me, And have become my salvation.”

What to Expect

Ordinance of Humility / Preparatory Meditations
The pastor will share a shorter sermon. Following the prayer, you will be directed to various rooms (women, men, couples). If you prefer to remain in the Sanctuary, that is absolutely alright and we invite you to spend the time in prayer and singing while others return to their seats.

Homily/Serving of Emblems
When we return from foot washing, we’ll continue in worship through congregational singing and The Lord’s Supper (serving of bread and grape juice  which will be offered to each person by our Deacons. The bread and grape juice will be prayed for by participating Elders of our church, and the congregation will eat and drink the emblems together. We conclude the service with a song of celebration as we depart to serve and we collect an offering at the door. That money will go to support those in need through our Community Services ministry.
